Marc Davis joined Disney in the late 1930's as an animator. Some of the characters Marc Davis has been principally responsible for include Thumper from Bambi (1942), Cinderella in Cinderella (1951), Tinker Bell in Peter Pan (1953) and Maleficent and Briar Rose in Sleeping Beauty (1959).
After animating Cruella de Vil, Marc Davis joined Walt Disney Imagineering in 1961, and was fundamental in the concept, character design and execution of Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room, The Jungle Cruise, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, Ford's Magic Skyway, Carousel of Progress, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, Country Bear Jamboree and America Sings.
Davis was given the Disney Legend Award in 1989. This award was created by Roy E. Disney to honor individuals whose body of work has made a significant impact on the Disney entertainment legacy.
